Horrifying iPhone explosions injuring users seriously. And now, one more iPhone 6 Plus explosion is added to that list. Are we ever going to be safe?
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Underwriter Laboratories (UL) gave assurance to Apple users that iPhones were quite safe and nothing worrisome was present. However, I don’t consider these assurances enough to ensure complete safety. People are suffering third-degree burns as their iPhones heat up in their pocket and melt through their skin. Whether it be iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or the brand new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
And now, another iPhone has caught fire in its owner’s bedroom. Yvette Estrada says her iPhone 6 Plus suddenly burst into flames on her dresser. Not only did it catch her by surprise, it caused major damage to Apple watch stands nearby. Also, it ended up harming some of her possessions as well, including her reading glasses, she reports to ABC30.
Her husband threw the iPhone in the sink to put out the flames. This is the second iPhone fire case in just one week and people have already started questioning whether they should indeed, change smartphone brand they use.
“I heard a sizzling, then we heard the pop and the whole fire was coming out of the screen,” Estrada told ABC30.
Estrada thought it right to contact Apple soon after the incident. The company has agreed to replace her iPhone 6 Plus and also took the courtesy to offer her a new Apple watch stand. Though, Apple made it clear that she will have to pay if she requires or desires to upgrade to the next models, the iPhone 7 or the iPhone 7 Plus.
What was the cause?
They called 911 right after the incident. The firefighters arrived at the scene soon after that. The harm was completely the iPhone’s fault. However, it is mysteriously unclear what exactly went wrong with the device. There’s a chance it overheated. Because that has been the cause in many such cases. And it is highly likely as the iPhone was on the dressing, there is a chance some abandoned heated device was sitting there. Though the woman did not mention it.
Such cases are increasing in number with each day. Not only Apple, but Samsung phones including the Galaxy Note 7 are posing such threats to its users as well. A few days ago, people could easily excuse the incidents by saying “just one in a million case”. However, now they cannot say that with as much confidence. This really has been a huge stigma on Apple symbol. Which is an assurance of quality of the company’s products.
If you are an iPhone owner, we strongly recommend taking precautions. Situations can get very nasty and can cause major injuries and burns. Moreover, what’s the harm in staying informed? Read further about the same here.
