Apple is going to be the co-sponsor of the Met Gala for the second time consecutively with its increasing interest in industries far from tech. The 2017 Met gala surely will be something huge.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York gave off the plans for the 2017 Met Gala recently revealing just how magnificient the event is going to be. Reportedly, Apple will be the co-sponsor company for the second time in a row. Nearly all the necessary information is now out and it includes something very unusual. The event is to be held on May 1 next year and is a remarkable step by Apple to showcase its increasing interest in the fashion industry. Moreover, chairs will include pop stars Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, and Rei Kawabuko. Also, they are going to hire a well-known fashion designer who will work upon the theme for the entire event. The name is unknown for now but we expect it to disclose soon enough.
Alongside Apple, co-sponsors will likely be Condé Nast, Farfetch, H&M, and Maison Valentino. The 2017 Met Gala is going to be the initiation of something huge as we can depict by the sponsor names itself. The event will feature various different clothing pieces from Kawakubo as well.
Apple had its design head Jony Ive chairing the Gala last year. However, this year the position is empty. The company has a number of potential workers to choose from though it did not consider it much necessary. The tech giant shows an increasing interest in the fashion industry ever since it launched the Apple watch in late 2014. The company is trying to leave an impression of its famous symbol in the list of the big names in the industry. Of course, it will not be a very tedious task for it.
Apple slowly seeping in the fashion industry
Apple begins with small steps and then goes for big jumps. This, we all know quite well. To take an instance, the Apple watch, after its release, was sold in some of the selected luxurious boutiques. This surely shows off how fancy it is to own the watch and increases its value amongst users. As the introduction of the watch was recently done, this gave a boost to the sales as well. Moreover, sending out early first-generation models to celebrities like Williams and Beyonce also gives a clue.
The company ditched the beloved 3.5 mm headphone jack in the name of ‘courage’ just to reduce the increasing imperfections on the outer surface of the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Under the former Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts, Apple is going for a look that has a base of design and fashion. However, the company never lags behind when we talk about features and specs of its hardware. Some decisions went badly wrong though and we expect Apple to recover quick, which it always does.
iPhone 7’s jet black model is a true boon to all of its black loving users out there. The model has got very popular and it certainly defines Apple’s efforts to go completely next level. As AppleInsider states it, “The iPhone has become a fashion item with several different colors, such as the iPhone 7’s jet black —so popular that it takes several times longer to ship than other options.”
